To our surprise and excitement there is a small article about Kosterfestivalen written by Mala Wang Naveen in the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten today. The article is listed among recommendations for various cultural experiences during the summer.

The article says:

It is not often us journalists come across original ways which to sell (cultural) events. After years being bombarded with emails about everything from concert arrangers to outdoor cafées and restaurants, I must admit one gets a little numb. Still, in the midst of making plans for a summerly journey through Skånes beautiful guest houses and manors, Martin G. Rasten shows up.

“We are in the process of making plans for coming years, plans which are so outrageous that the world will never be the same again,” Rasten writes. He then wants to invite Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra to play Mahler, Bruckner and Beethoven on a self made gigantic stage at Basteviken, Koster. What an unresistable way to advertise the already rather charming Kosterfestivalen, which is arranged from 19. – 25. July. Even though I will spend the summer along the coast of Skåne I will probably be tempted to visit Koster when classical sounds soar into the air above the waves of the western ocean. If this does not bring piece of mind, I must be a lost soul.

In the two previous years Kosterfestivalen arranged symphonic concerts presented by our very own festival orchestra; Koster Philharmoniker. It was a wild, fantastic dream coming true when we were able to invite around 40 of our musician friends from all over the world to join in on what for us is the highlight of the year!

This year, however, we will “go back to the roots” and focus on the intimacy of chamber music. Ensembles of various sizes will enter the stage, the largest ensemble being a nonet (nine musicians). I therefore find it slightly surprising the article is focused around our (wildest) dreams and ambitions for the future of Kosterfestivalen, which are a rather huge contrast to Kosterfestivalen of 2010.

Still, we are thrilled to get PR coverage from Norway’s largest newspaper, and we hope to see loads of concert goers, regulars and new faces enjoying the music making of our brilliant line – up of musicians!

The whole newspaper article is published here.
